Join us for our Fifth Annual Forum Theatre Play presented by Theatre of the Oppressed NYC.
Theatre of the Oppressed is an interactive methodology that is used to investigate situations in which cast members have been denied their basic rights, personally and collectively. In the rehearsal and development stage, the cast shares and combines their real-life stories and struggles into original plays. Topics have covered issues of homelessness and hunger, racism and profiling, unemployment and lack of access to health care, addiction, alcoholism, and an array of family problems. The result is a “forum theatre” performance in which the scenes ask a question of the audience, and the audience (or “spect-actors”) intervene in the action to try out various alternatives to the problems.
A donation of $10 will be appreciated to defray costs and support the efforts of the ensemble.
