A Conversation with writer Julie Klam

Join us on Zoom for a conversation between TCC member Sam Maser, and her neighbor, the writer Julie Klam. Julie is the author of several best selling non-fiction books, and in her latest, The Almost Legendary Morris Sisters: A True Story of Family Fiction, Klam investigates four of her long-gone cousins. According to Klam family lore, the sisters immigrated to the US as children and grew up to be eccentric, chain-smoking millionaires. As a child, the stories of these unconventional glamorous women fascinated Julie. But when Klam began to dig into their history, speaking to genealogists and traveling across the US and Europe to explore her family’s roots, she uncovered a very different story. The Almost Legendary Morris Sisters is hilarious and deeply moving, as well as inspiring and insightful.

The Almost Legendary Morris Sisters will be released on August 10. To read the book in advance of the event, Julie is doing signed pre-orders at Books are Magic in Brooklyn as well as at Shakespeare and Company. She will also have bookplates that she is happy to sign and send to anyone who’d rather get it elsewhere.
