“Home Style Family-Friendly Shabbat Celebration”

Shabbat, for many, is about family getting together with friends for a wonderful meal, sharing stories and song. This makes sense to us too. At City Congregation, Shabbat is a time when our intergenerational extended family gets together to celebrate our Jewish identity, history and shared humanistic values.

We’ll start the evening with Shabbat candlelighting and brighten the room with sets of candlesticks spread out on every dinner table. We’ll share readings and music followed by a delicious potluck dinner. Then we’ll plan to have even more singing and plenty of time for good conversation!

RSVPs are due by Oct. 28, but if you’re planning to join us–or even just thinking about it–please email Carol Sternhell(cs5@nyu.edu) as soon as possible to discuss what you might like to bring. All contributions are welcome, and if you don’t cook, you can shop.
