At City Congregation, we believe young people’s commitment to their values — and connection to their culture — shouldn’t come to an end when their bar or bat mitzvah has passed. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce a new program for KidSchool graduates to do important social action while having fun with their old friends and earning high school community service credits at the same time.
Our first gathering will be on Saturday, November 16th, participating in Habitat for Humanity’s “Brush with Kindness” day. We’ll help paint and renovate buildings in a low-income New York City neighborhood — and top it off with a pizza party at the end of the day. It will be a great chance to reconnect with former classmates and take part in a rewarding mission.
Participants must be 14 or older and we need adult volunteers as well. Invite your family and friends — whether City Congregation members or not — to join our team. Time and location information will be sent soon to those who sign up.
For more information, please contact Jean Weille, the chair of our social action committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 917-854-2645 no later than November 1. We’re really excited about this event, and about the prospect of seeing you again.
