JEWS AND BOOZE: From Noah to Baron Rothschild, Samuel Bronfman and Beyond
Consumption of wine is embedded in Jewish culture from the very beginning. In modern times, Jews have played an important role – legally and illegally – in the production and purveyance of liquor. In this final talk before he retires, Rabbi Peter will trace our long-time relationship with alcohol. Has it been a good thing or a bad thing for the Jews? In honor of the topic and occasion, we’ll have some schnapps available for tasting! Please remember to bring a pot-luck dessert.
