“The Great Jewish Debate”
Should the Jewish community make a greater effort to gain converts? Should circumcision be an option or a requirement? Is it helpful or hurtful when American Jews criticize Israel? Does one have to believe in God to be a good Jew?
For every two Jews there are three opinions. And much energy spent on defending them! In fact, we learn that some of the Talmudic rabbis carried on one particular argument for several years. We’re going to pick a few questions, divide into teams, and then have a go at each other. Be prepared to argue for a position you don’t automatically endorse! Impartially moderated by Rabbi Peter Schweitzer.
Pot luck dessert and schmoozing to follow.
