The activities, services, and events of The City Congregation (TCC) are meant to foster meaningful and inclusive collaboration among congregants and community members, none of whom should be kept from participating in or enjoying them by others’ poor behavior. While TCC is a private organization that feels strongly about hearing from all perspectives, it is not a public forum.

With this in mind, we expect participants in TCC activities and events to:

  • Provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where all are able to express their ideas and identities free from discrimination or harassment.
  • Foster collaboration for the purpose of generating ideas that empower, innovate, and develop the capacity of our community.
  • Listen as much as you speak, ask respectful questions, and clarify context.
  • Prioritize access for and input from those who are typically excluded or socially marginalized.
  • Ensure that relationships and conversations between and among congregants remain respectful, participatory, and productive.
  • Treat all event organizers, presenters, volunteers, TCC leadership, and staff with respect at all times.
  • Voice any concerns or suggestions respectfully at an appropriate time and in a manner that does not cause disruption during a program.

TCC Board of Directors reserves the right to require anyone in violation of these policies to leave our events or meetings, at the discretion of the Executive Committee or a member of the Executive Committee who may be present. Additionally all TCC Board members, congregants and volunteers are held to the following non-harassment policy:

TCC is committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone who engages in our programs and services. We welcome everyone and value diversity of race, color, creed, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ability, and citizen, marital, veteran and HIV status. We do not discriminate, nor tolerate discrimination or harassment, based on any of these factors. To build a strong community, we need everyone.

TCC does not tolerate harassment in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship, or marital or HIV status. It also includes deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of events or activities, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, unwarranted exclusion, and patronizing language or action.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, TCC Board of Directors may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender and/or excluding the offender from TCC events, services, or activities. In most cases, a warning would precede removal from ongoing committee or volunteer work, and multiple ignored warnings could result in expulsion from the organization.
