Sarah Chandler: The Vegan Who Loves Chickens
Join us for a conversation with a visionary Jewish leader on ethics and eating. Sarah Chandler, a vegan for 10 years, originally chose to limit eating animals in her diet for environmental reasons. After learning about the treatment of animals on factory farms, she has become one of the foremost advocates of what some call “eco-kashrut,” a modern ethic based on aligning our values with our food choices. Rather than advocating that everyone follows a particular diet, she engages people by meeting them where they are and moving toward alignment. Known for her infamous role as a “slaughter doula”, she organizes meaningful educational opportunities for students of all ages to witness live chickens become food.
After the program, please stay for our pot luck desserts and schmoozing. We’ll provide wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
RSVP is requested but not required.
