Jews and Languages: How many can we create?
Many North American Jews are familiar with the two most famous Jewish languages: Hebrew and Yiddish. But did you know that in every significant Jewish diaspora a Judaicized form of the dominant language developed? Most intriguingly, in the 19th century a Jewish intellectual named Eliezer Zamenhov invented an entirely new international language, Esperanto! Come join us for a celebration of the many flavors of Jewish speech and literature, led by Esperanto fan Rabbi Tzemah.
After the program, please stay for our pot luck desserts and schmoozing. We’ll provide wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
