When Gender is In Question: A Guide to Understanding
by Suzanne Sherkin (written with with Dr. Helma Seidl and Skyler Hagen)
Suzanne Sherkin is the mother of a transgender son. The experience of supporting her child through the process of transitioning has given her a deeply personal understanding of the trans journey, When she was new to the discussion, she found lots of great resources from trans writers but not many from cis perspectives, so she created one.
In this talk Suzanne discusses her book and provides insights from her lived experience and continued dialogue with the public as well as her research. If you want to know what are the current issues facing trans and gender diverse people, or some words and phrases are valuable, please join us!
Suzanne Sherkin is a public speaker, mediator, and facilitator. Her work has addressed issues of conflict, harassment, and discrimination in workplaces. She has now expanded her expertise to help workplaces become more accepting and supportive of the issues of gender diversity.
