The objective of this course is to offer an Introduction to Jewish texts, practices, and liturgy through a Secular Humanistic lens and can also be your stepping-stone towards becoming Jewish. The course is divided into four units with six classes in each unit [each sub-unit is two classes long]. Classes will take place twice a month in the evening, on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Successful completion of the course entails (virtual) attendance and participation in two thirds of the classes of each of the four units as well as reading the materials for each of these classes (the bibliography below is only partial). For those who are seeking to adopt / convert to Judaism, a personal exploration of a Jewish topic of your choice undertaken in consultation with me (Rabbi Tzemah) is also required. This curriculum can be accomplished over the course of up to three years. Once a year at the High Holidays we will welcome all who have completed this course into the greater Jewish community if they choose.
