Shabbat Service and Cultural Program

Our Shabbat service.

Cultural program:

My Humanistic Author: Terry Prachett

In our program series, “My Humanistic Author,” members share how a creator – author, director, artist, poet, etc. – made a significant Humanistic impact on their lives.

In this installment, our members will discuss how author Terry Pratchett helped shape their humanistic views.

Rabbi Tzemah will talk about the book Small Gods and its relevance to modern religious thought, Jim Ryan will talk about Sir Pratchett’s approach to death as reflected in the Discworld character, and Danny Karni will talk about Pratchett’s journey into humanism which seems to become the backdrop of his books — along with his writing career.

If Terry Pratchett, or another, similar author made a significant impact on your life, please come prepared to share your story following the program.
