A Life in Music
Celebrating Abe Mandel (1942-2000)
The City Congregation’s Man of Music
You may not recognize the name of songwriter Abe Mandel – but if you regularly attend TCC events, you are definitely familiar with his music. This year would have been his 80th birthday.
Join us as we take a look back at his contributions as The City Congregation’s musical voice. Abe was a teacher, performer, recording artist, and composer of many of our songs.
We’ll review his work and life through live presentations and reminiscences from TCC “family” members Myrna Baron, Molly Avila and Abe’s own family.
Come and learn how Abe came to City Congregation, how he created his songs, how the songs were embraced by other congregations and how we appreciate them in our services today.
TCC Member Peter Mones and TCC song leader Rebecca Schwartz will guide us to learn, sing, and appreciate the musical legacy of Abe Mandel with contributions by his wife, longtime TCC Member Mickie Mandel and their daughter Lanny Mandel Scott.
