Why I Am a Humanist: A Journey from Jerusalem to Sighet
Many of us who grew up in religious homes have a story about when we stopped buying the proverbial lokshen (traditional religious conventions) being sold to us by traditional Judaism. For Rabbi Tzemah, the culmination took place in Romania, in the the Jewish Cemetery of Sighet. Sighet is the city where Elie Wiesel was born, and where Rabbi Tzemah’s somewhat less famous father and grandparents lived.
As Rabbi Tzemah tells this story, we will invite others to share their own journeys towards humanism.
