Shabbat Service and Cultural Program – Yom HaShoah

Please join us for an exciting program about the new indie rock musical, RUTKA. Producers Amy Langer and David Schwartz, of Think System Productions, will chat with us about the process of creating the show, a contemporary piece of theater based on the historical diary Rutka’s Notebook:  A Voice from the Holocaust, and discuss the importance of bringing these stories to the next generation.

This internationally acclaimed diary, hidden away by 14-year-old Rutka Laskier in the Jewish Ghetto in Bedzin, Poland in 1943, was uncovered in 2006. From its pages spring love, resistance, resilience, and hope for her words to live on, for the world to know what happened there.

David Schwartz is a producer, writer and entertainment attorney. In addition to his work at Think System Productions, David spent 17 years at The Walt Disney Company as Assistant General Counsel, and three years at MGM as Senior Vice-President of their EPIX streaming service and networks.

Amy Langer was a musical theater performer for many years with both national and international tour credits. She began producing large scale events and eventually formed Think System Productions with David.

They are honored to have the opportunity to help Rutka’s words and story live on and reach new audiences. Amy and David are former TCC members.
