Tu B’Av – The Jewish Holiday of Love
On this Shabbat, Rabbi Tzemah offers a l’chaim to a forgotten holiday that just passed.
On the fifteenth day of the Jewish month of Av, the Jewish holiday of love is celebrated. It is mostly ignored these days, except by retailers in Israel hoping to capitalize on sales and literati who read their poems and raise their glasses of Chardonnay. And yet it is a holiday that carries none of the uncomfortable historical baggage of St. Valentines Day; instead, it celebrates love as a great equalizer.
Join Rabbi Tzemah in partaking in a small taste of this holiday, for in these uncertain times it is always good to have another reason to celebrate.
