Crisis lines and resources:

  • If your life or someone else’s is in imminent danger, call 911. If you are in crisis and need immediate help, or if you need to talk to someone about suicidal thoughts or feelings, you can call: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433).
  • In NYC, to speak with a trained mental health professional and get help finding mental health and substance abuse services, you can call 1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355) 24 hours day/7 days a week. You can also text WELL to 65173 or go to https://nycwell.cityofnewyork.us/en/.
  • If you need to talk to someone and prefer to chat anonymously, in New York State, you can contact https://www.crisistextline.org, an anonymous texting service available 24/7. Starting a conversation is easy. Text GOT5 to 741741.
  • For problems with gambling or substance use, OASAS HOPEline is New York State’s 24/7 hotline. For Help and Hope call 1-877-8-HOPENYor text HOPENY (467379).

  • For people who are dealing with every kind of problem, situation, illness, trauma or loss and need someone to talk to, The Samaritans of New York’s non-religious, 24-hour emotional support and crisis response hotline is available on an immediate and ongoing basis. Rape Crisis and Domestic and Sexual Violence Helplines:

  • Safe Horizon provides assistance, advocacy, and support to those who have experienced domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and other crimes. You can call 1-800-621-HOPE (4673).
